re-post...rear brake job on hault pending brickboard advise

I am in the process of installing rebuilt rear calipers on my '87 740. The new calipers came with a brass [I think] washer that would go between the brake line and the caliper. When I removed the old caliper, I did not find such a washer. Does anyone know if I should or should not use this [or any for that matter] washer at the junction of the rubber brake line and the caliper housing?

Thanks
