The M47 a true 5 sp transmission came in the NON Turbo 740's 1987 and on and the 240 non turbo Volvo. The transmission you refer to with the electric OD is known as the M46. When I converted my Auto over to a manual I used a M47 5 speed. There were a few 87 740 Turbos that came with the 5 speed. 98% of the Turbos with manuals on this side of the pond came with the M46 4 speed with the electric overdrive.
