wheel bearings or what? S90-V90 1998

My 98 S90 is now making a rumbling from the front that is speed dependent - doesn't seem to be brakes - and goes something like "rrr-rrr-rrr-rrr-rrr-rrr...."

So I suspect bearings. I have only 73k miles on it - is it normal to have these bearings wear so early?

I start looking, and all I find are "hub assemblies" - NOT front bearings. And the entire assembly is like $200 each side!

Is this normal? any other suggestions before I blow $400 and an afternoon?

Thanks in advance for all of the info I have gleaned from this board and it's members!
