Replaced lots, check engine light on, codes say AMM, that's new too 200

Fixed surging problem with my 90 240. Needed new ECU. Replaced lots of other stuff too.

AMM, idle control valve, idle switch, oxygen sensor, fuel regulator, fuel filter.

After driving trouble free for two weeks, check engine light comes on. Codes say 1 2 1, AMM. Cleared the memory. Drives fine for two days. Check engine light comes on again. What gives? It still drives fine when the light goes on.

BTW: I removed the aluminum colored preheat hose into the airbox when it was first fixed two weeks back. I've just now sealed the airbox hole shut -- with a baby food jar light of all things -- and secured it shut with black tape.

Could the air from the hole still be hot enough to mess up the AMM even without the hose? (The thermostat inside is shot, and I can figure out how to get it off -- hence the plugging of the hole)
