I'm afraid I know the answer, but... HELP 700

Guys,

My 1990 745T runs like a champ. Starts right up, plenty of power, nice an smooth. The problem? Oil in the coolant overflow tank! I'm fearing I've got a leaking head gasket. There is NO coolant in the oil, however. Is there any chance this is a leak from somewhere else (for example, any chance oil could get to the coolant via a connection at the turbo)?

The car uses about 1 quart or less of oil per 1000 miles, but there is NO smoke (white, blue or black) coming out of the exhaust, even at start up.

Any clues? Is it likely the head gasket? How long can I "ignore" this? This is a phenomenon that made itself known about 2 months ago, and the amount of oil buildup floating on top of the coolant in the overflow tank has increased over time.

Any ideas, or is it my worst fear?

Thanks,

Gavin
