'new' turbo wagon...what a cool car!!! 200 1983

Howdy all,

I purchased a very nice 1983 245 GLT yesterday (1200 mile round trip!!!), and I am growing incredibly enamored with this vehicle. I have never owned a "sporty" car (if any stationwagon can be considered sporty!), and I like having a fast(er) car. Being new to both 245s and turbos, I have a few questions...

I haven't measured, but it looks like the quad-rectangle headlight setup is interchangeable with the quad-round headlight set-up. Is that the case? I have a full front clip from a 1980 sedan, and I think that the round headlights with black surrounds will look snazzy with the blacked-out turbo trim.

It has a full-size spare mounted on a Virgo. Was that standard for the turbo models? My DL sedans have just had the donut spare.

My daily driver has been a 5-speed sedan (which I am now handing down to my teenage sister). The wagon is the 4-speed + OD. Any tips on how to keep the OD happy? It is working great now, and I would like to keep it that way.

The car came with the original owner's manual and a supplement about how to correctly drive a turbocharged car (very helpful!), and the turbo seems to be working well. Are there any problem areas to keep an eye out for with a turbo of this vintage?

Any comments about these questions or about this model in general will be arrepreciated.

THANKS!!!

Take care,
Keith
