1989 A/C Condenser Fan Current Draw? 700

Hello Folks,

The Original condenser fan has seized on my car. So, I have found a quality BMW fan off of a 5 series car and want to install it. Problem is that the BMW bosch fan has 10 gauge wires on it and probably sucks tons of current (esp. when compared to the factory Volvo fan which looks to be using 14G wiring). Therefore, is it safe just to hook the new bimmer fan in and hope for the best (ie hope that the volvo wiring doesn't melt off/start a fire). Or is it better to rewire the fan with HD wiring?

What is the best way to do this without buying the hayden fan controller? Can I tap off the switch on the rad and just hook in a relay wired to the battery?

Thanks in advance,

Tim
