You guys are such a great resource. I really appreciate all your suggestions. I have another couple of things. Subject vehicle is a 1989 240DL.
1) What is the function of the orange wire behind the instrument cluster? It is not hooked up. Just wondering what it is???

2) When I set my cruise control it speeds up and speeds up until I shut it off. Not a fast acceleration. Hitting the brake pedal does not disable it, I have to actually shut it off. Where do I start on this one??? I have not played with this system yet, so where things are located will sure help.
