Wire Fire: Update 200 1986

Finally had a chance to look at the wire harness Fri.. The alternator wires (load wire and both field wires) had shorted to the power steering/air cond. compressor bracket. It had fried back to starter and luckily burned in two before it did more damage. I opened the harness and found the insulation of the other wires to be in great shape(maybe it has been replaced before). So, about $30 in wires and other stuff and an hour's labor, she's back on the road!!!!
Thanks to all for your info.
Rick.
p.s. It is a good idea for every car to have a charged and handy fire extinguisher---Just In Case??!!!
