Rear differential leak 200 1990

I have a had a leak on the rear diff case for quite some time, ('90 245) enough to leave spots on the driveway after a short time. Anyway, I got under there today and cleaned it all off (what a mess) and after a short drive I can see that it is coming from the plug/connector on the top of the diff for the speedometer sender. A little tough to -exactly- trace the source but it looks like it is coming from the round slotted area where it plugs in.

I want to get this fixed and thought I would check here to see if there is anything to watch out for or any "gotchas". I'm hoping it's just a bad o-ring or something and I don't have to remove the cover to fix this.

Thanks all!
