Q: Any good books on ECU testing and repair?

" I doubt the schematic would help very much without a listing for the computer code as well. Anyway, why not just get a spare from the junkyard to sub in when you think you have a problem. Local PNP charged me $10.00 fora 240 ECU. Dan"

Will do. I just Ned to fix another disabled car (broken OEM rad with plastic upper inlet tube), before I can go hunt around. But I'm curious how do you know the used ones are good, especially if the car seems to work fine - can they partially work, be partially good enough to avoid detection?

If you don't mind, please explain what the connection is to computer code and testing the ECU with test equipment, and looking at schematic, and resoldering suspected areas, etc. For example, I recently removed the AC board in the dash of Mom's 91, 740, saw no problems at all, but resoldered anyway and it fixed the electrical problems with the AC. I had a schematic of the AC board and I was able to see which circuit was providing the power. Bear of a job first time (tricky removal stuff), but I could do it in about twenty minutes now.

Also, I am sincerely interested in learning how to fix ECU's, so I have to start somewhere.
