How to tell if it's oil or trans fluid... 700

That seems to be getting into my coolant. It's a 1990 745T Auto with 118k miles, and it runs great (no smoke, good power, etc.) Thanks to those of you who gave me some advice in my earlier post. Since there is oil showing up in my coolant expansion tank, I need some help figuring out where it is coming from. It's probably either the trans oil cooler leaking in the radiator or the headgasket.

How can I tell which problem I am experiencing? Any tips? BTW, trans fluid doesn't seem to budge from full, but oil, over 1000-1500 miles does drop a half quart or a little more.

Thanks!

Gavin
