Is replacing front wheel bearings a big job? 140-160 1974

1974 145e. I want to replace front wheel bearings (they're starting to rumble), and want to have all parts in hand before I disassemble them.

Do I have to use a puller to get the inner race off, can I crack or cut it? Can I tap the races out of the hub? Is there any trick to the seal? The manuals make it look like an ordeal.
