Quick Help For A Volvo Newbie! 700

There is a turbo identification guide in the 700/900 FAQ. You should check there. 1987 model year 700 series turbo cars cam with either Garrett or Mitsubishi turbo. The Garrett can be easily identified by looking down on the top of the turbo at the oil supply line. If the oil supply line is bolted to the turbo with two bolts as in the picture, you have a Garrett T3.

In addition, the Garrett T3 uses and external CBV (Compressor Bypass Valve) which is bolted to the front of the engine head. It looks like this:
