Power Steering Problem 200 1989

Hi, my power steering is very stiff when turning left, only when the car just start up, after 5 minute or the car is warmed up it is fine, this happen about 6 month ago , I follow the suggestion from this board, flushed out the fluid, spray wd-40 onthe steering colum u-joint,problem went away for the past 6 months,is it because the weather is warm? I don't know, now the weather is getting cooler ( where I live it was 56F degree this morning ),and the steering is acting up again. I am confused, I have a few questions need some help from the experts and get it fix.

1. why it's only stiff when turning left, if the pump is bad shouldn't be on both (left and right turn ?).
2. what is the part that really broke ?
3. can I fix the problem myself ?
4. what king of maintance do I need for the steering ? I use dexcon III last time when flushed.

Thanks very much
Tom
