82 242: Apparent Non-Sealing Gas Cap and Lack of Tank Vacuum 200

Don't sweat the problem. These gas caps are cheap. Wal-mart has them for about $6. Buy one. What the heck, buy two. Take the sealed package to the mechanic. Chances are he won't even bother testing it before he puts it on.

Return the second one after you pass.

Note to others about to take test: Buy the gas cap. Keep it in the car unopened. If your's fails. Hand the mechanic the new one. And carry on with the test.
