head lights go out 700 1990

Greetings,
I have a 1990 760 Turbo wagon and have recently begun having lighting problems. My wife was driving the car on the interstate recently when the headlights shut off. They came back on momentarily and stayed on until she got home. She mentioned it to me that night, I thought She was crazy, until it happened to me too.

Again, we were on the interstate and the low beams went out. When I flicked on the high beams, they worked. Then I switched back to the low beams and they came on, but only briefly. By the time I got home the lights didn't work at all. It was only a matter of a few miles and it was just around sunset, so I was able to make it home. We drive with the headlights on all the time, day or night. could this be a problem? I changed one halogen bulb a few months back, I don't think both could be out, could they? I have heard that happened to another Volvo owner who works with me.

I'll start with checking the grounds and then the relay as suggested in the FAQ section. Any other info would be appreciated.

Thanks!
