Speedometer fun 700 1988

What is he K-number at the bottom of your speedometer dial? I think my '87 is k10042. I have seen later models with a much larger number. This K-number indicates the number of pulses per mile.

I know this is a 740, but at the risk of being very far afield, I am going to pass this on. On 240's the speedometer is clocked by a sensor in the rear axel. Are you sure that the 740 uses the brake sensor? In '91 to '96 cars without abs, the 240 axel used a 12 tooth sensor wheel and for '92 and later, and all cars with abs they used either 48 tooth or 96 tooth wheels. I am guessing you now have an axel with 48 tooth wheel. If so, the best solution might be to replace the speedometer with a used one.
