A chilling discovery 900 1993

Haven't had working A/C in years, so this is a new toy for me. I tried an experiment yesterday, measuring the vent temp at different fan settings. The results confirmed my hunch, but still leave me with a question.

Conditions: Steady 55 mph. Ambient temp about 80F.
Fan Settings to digital temp readings:
Fan on 5 = 41.4
Fan on 4 = 38.7
Fan on 3 = 36.0

I had to stop at 3 because I was home at that point. But I've tried this before and believe it would have gotten even cooler. Guess it makes sense — the slower air has time to pick up more "coolth" in the evaporator.

The question is "what's optimum?" Fast and cool or slower and colder?
