Anyone have a rim fracture in a low speed impact???

This afternoon I was hit broadside by someone coming out of a shopping mall aisle who forgot to stop and didn't see me somehow. Crunched the pass. rear door more than I would have expected, but what REALLY surprised me was that there was a chunk missing from the rear wheel (which was hit as well) afterwards- another section of it 'peeled' away- can see the bead of the tire, which somehow didn't deflate. Have some pictures- they're funky.

This is on a '92 745 (turbo- I THINK 'turbine' wheels?). When I stopped I was turned 30 degrees. There was probably more energy there than I thought, but c'mon, the other person was in a Corolla!!!

Now the fun begins with insurance companies. I did get a police report- he saw how the cars stopped. Should be cut and dry BUT.....
