my 240 won't start! 200 1993

Ok, where to begin? Day before yesterday, my car wouldn't start. It had only been off for about 10 minutes, so the battery can't die that fast right? Plus the headlights, radio, etc, all worked with no problem. When I turned the key, I heard a click, but nothing more. This same situation has happened to me three times, about two months ago, and now again this morning. My battery terminals are spotless, and my battery and alternator tested ok at the auto parts store the first time it wouldn't start. On all occasions, getting a jump from another car worked (I haven't tried yet today). This leads me to believe that maybe it is a poor connection somewhere between the battery and starter, or maybe a problem with the starter. How can I check the starter, and is there anything else I should check before I give up and go to a mechanic? Keep in mind I don't have a voltmeter, I always used my boyfriend's, but now I'm at school in another state. He also took my volvo manual, so please keep it simple for me. Thanks!!!!!
