Bought my 89 245 (230K) about two years ago with 'check engine' lite on....swapped out the auto tranny for a M-47 (true 5spd) and liight went out after I reconnected everything. About a week later...lights back on. I have no lack of power...and have been getting 30- 31 MPG on trips and 27-28 bumping around town with 234K on odometer......not looking to fix whats not broke.

I'd go for a Ford.....have seen them in many a 240.
