I just replaced my front rotors/pads/caliper pin kit about 500 miles ago to cure a bad pulsation and shimmy in the steering wheel. Rotors are Zimmermans and pads are Textar.
When I apply the brakes lightly I started getting a shimmy in the steering wheel. When more brake pressure is applied it seems to smooth out. Wheels were torqued down properly with a torque wrench.
There's also a "clank" type sound that I hear when I first apply the brakes after the car has been sitting a while. It's like the brake pad slaps against the rotor as if there was a bit of slack between the rotor and pad.
Could it be that the front rotors are defective? Any other possibilities?
Thanks for any feedback.
