'91/940 engine stalling 900 1991

I have scoured this site for all the tips in fixing the intermittent stalling of my 940. I shall try a few but still wonder why mine ONLY stalls a mile or so after a cold start. ie: just as the Temp gauge reaches the normal position.
It starts perfectly from cold but occasionally cuts out at any speed after a couple of minutes. At cut-out, the rev-counter still shows a reading as the wheels drive the engine so I dont suspect the crankshaft sensor.
The Lamda light does not come on until the car stops and all ignition lights come on.
After a couple of minutes waiting it starts fine and smoothly. I then have no problems ... until a few days or a week later
I suspect a fuel starvation problem as if I try to restart too early it won't. However, there is no smell of unburnt petrol fumes at the exhaust.
It has been in the garage and they retuned and checked various things but it has occurred occasionally since.
Has anyone any ideas why it would occur ONLY at this temperature stage?
Thanks in anticipation.
