Hey there!

I'm in the same boat -- the centre console's apart at the moment, and I'm planning on undoing the trans linkage underneath the car, undoing the 4 bolts that hold the shifter to the body/chassis, and getting at the bulb that way. At the same time, I'm going to replace the rubber seal/gasket between the shifter assembly and the chassis/body, as there's a little bit of salt crust inside, indicating it's letting a little water in.

I'll take pictures and post them once I'm done.
