Is it the OD or is it the clutch causing problems?

Car: 88 745T M46

Not long ago the trans would go in and out of OD. I would flick the switch and the OD would kick on and stay on.

Lately, the clutch is slipping in 3rd and 4th gear, but i am not sure if it also slips in OD [the whole slippage issue happened not too long ago, I have yet to take the car on the freeway, may do so today to see if it slips in OD].

I read, after doing a search on here, that OD problems may cause the clutch to slip making it appear as though the clutch [an after market stronger unit FWIW] is the culprit when it is the OD.

Thoughts?

Dan
