3 Speed Automatic to M46 conversion! 200 1980

I own a 1980 Volvo 245 and am in the process of changing out its 3 speed automatic with an M46 from a 1983 244. I have both transmissions removed and have discovered a difference in their flywheels. I have two different questions stemming from this. First, on my 1980 flywheel, the torque converter is still attached. I don’t know if it is part of my flywheel or if it needs to be removed separately. If it does, how does one remove the torque converter? Also, assuming I get the torque converter off my 1980, do I have to use the flywheel from the 1983 that used to have the M46, or can I use my original flywheel?

Also, if anyone has any other experience related to changing from an auto to a manual, please feel free to send any information you like! I'm open to all suggestions regarding the above question and also in general. Thanks!
