p1800es acquisition 1800 1973

on 1 sept, i flew out to oregon with an old sailing buddy. picked up a '73 p1800es and drove it home to long island, new york. other than a leaky fuel line (repaired for ninety cents), the 5 day trip home was perfect.

one would think that by the time one gets to be 57, he should have better judgement than to buy a 30 year old car with 177000mi on and drive it accross the country.

as a retired tomcat driver (f-14), i'm reminded of going to an air show with my father when i was about ten.
"when i grow up i want to be a pilot, dad." i said.
