New taillights installed 200 1989

I received my replacement taillights I bought from the least expensive source (ebay) new, 80$ each including all hardware.
volvo 240 89 6 panel chrome.

I installed them. Off hand I did notice that the plastic moulding job really left a lot to be desired... not very straight. I guess the shine accents this too. I do agree about the poor build everyone talks about.

I use the original gaskets on the car, expecting that if I seat them nicely into the already "moulded" gasket they would be more comfortable and not leak. So far so good. I just keep the other gaskets as spares.

I also found that the bulb holders were really badly moulded, could not even get off the bulbs from some of them... so I put my old volvo bulb holders on the new assemblies. They fit well, and are so much better made, not to mention thicker metal contacts to the back of the bulbs. I left the new circuit boards.

Any thoughts? I would say the lights look overall nice... in comparison to my faded old ones.

Greg
