How could you get good forced air without allowing rain in? It is the leaves I object to, but your ealier suggestion of threading in a piece of nylon hardware cloth could be a winner. But eventually the acid in our precip will get the innards leaves or not.

I like the water to come in after feline territorial marking (complete with little paw prints).

I have an original window sticker here that proclaims as a feature among 60: "Flow-Through Door-Sill Ventilation System". I've been waiting for you to explain to me, after your restoration, why we would want our door sills ventilated anyhow?
