Transmission seal and bearing 700

Just replaced the rear transmission seal and bushing on my daughter's 90 740 GL. We quit at 7 tonight without finishing the job because it did not seem quite right (and our wives were screaming at us to hurry up!) All pressed in...hole on the bearing up and the seal was set right. Pressing in the output shaft was very tight and then we could not turn it by hand at all when it was home! Is this normal? We even removed it to make sure everything was alright. It looks ok. So we are reinstalling it first thing in the morning. FAQs say that it should be tight...but not moveable by hand? It that ok???
