Voltage Regulator 700

I have a Delco 80 amp stock alternator in my 1991 744 and recently, the voltage has been jumping around from 13.8 volts to below 12 volts (lower than 12 when my stereo is on, causing it to turn off. This only started happening a few weeks ago. My stereo worked fine for atleast 3 months).

1. Could this be caused by my volatge regulator?

2. Is my voltage regulator mounted on the back of my regulator and is there a
metal cover over the back that needs to be removed first?

3. Would this make a good replacement?

4. Is installation of this part easy enough that I can do it my self without
special tools?

5. Because this is adjustable to 15 volts, can I set it that high or will it harm
the car? What whould I have it set around?
