I could be wrong but--- 700 1988

There probably isn't a spec. The pilot bearing supports the other end of the shaft so it may seem excessive when unsupported. Have you noticed any filings in the trans oil? Or any growling bearing sounds? If not it's probably OK.

BTW don't worry about the tools we're off to Ohio 10/2 but the fleet will be needing some maintenance around the 8th or so. Anyway take your time so you don't have a "comeback"! I can always put things off for a few days.
