Intermittent 1-2-3 code: temp sensor 200 1992

Hi guys,

Have had the 1-2-3 code come up on me twice now in last two days. After reset it the check light stays off for 2 days, 50km or so, then comes on again. I checked the sensor and both terminals read about the same, correct value of about 500ohm, 15 min after shutdown. Table says 70 deg C which is about right after cooldown period. Checked the wiring all works out OK.

Before I go and buy myself a new temp sender: Do I need to look at other area's for trouble shooting on a 1-2-3 code? The code comes up afer moterway driving and idle at trafic light for a few minutes - typically a high temp situation but nothing exciting on the guage, I know my cooling system works fine. Could it be that a faulty temp sender starts giving funny signals at higher temperatures?

your experience much appriciated.
