son wrecked 940 engine, have b23 and 740 b230 at cost... insight ? 200

hi

our very nice 940 was driven for a LONG time after it lost its coolant and overheated. the head gasket is done, as is the cyliner head, and the engine began to melt/deform in places too.

i know it is not the same in some significant ways, but we have a bumch of earlier 240 engines, including a b23 with 77,000 miles from a 240. Could it be made to work ?

we can get a b230 from a 740, but i dont know what minor differences there might be with this one.

tomorrow, ill learn about 940 engine prices...but i have been told that even among the same years, there are differences. anyone ?

ofcourse i posted this in the 940 forum as well, but i think there is more technical expertise here among the 240 crowd. Any insight would be appreciated.

thank you very much.
