sender pre-pump on 240 - lifting it out carefully? 200 1990

Hi all:

Dumb question: I have the 90 240 sender pre-pump unit loose, un-hooked from all hoses and am lifting it out? It seems to be hanging up on the way out of the tank and I don't want to force it (especially around fuel). I have a complete (used unit) with a carter pre-pump and sender ready to put in. Also have a new lock ring, seal and I bought the IPD bung tool to use on the lock ring. Worked like a charm on a rusty ring.

Is there some trick to taking or lifting the unit straight out that I am not aware of? Bentley say "remove carefully" well............ I got tired and thought I would post this before banging it around and blowing myself up! I hate messing with fuel! Any tricks I should know?
