ah!
sounds more like an electrical connection issue then.
I'd start by thowing a test lite on the fuel pump cir. @ the fuel pump it's self (primary) and go from there. I could be off target, but by it only doing it turning left, something's loose, shorting or worn out.

Sorry I'm not more help, but would really have to see it first hand to get any real ideas.
