Sounds like you addressed all of the issues. Did you get a new rubber bushing and spring for the center carrier bearing when the U-joints were replaced? If you had a shop do it, they may have cheaped out and reused your old one if it still looked good. Also when was the last time you checked the rear diff's oil. I must admit, I've never changed mine, but I topped it off with 90w gear oil a few yeard ago.
