Diff interchangeability? 140-160

Hi all,

The diff is starting to groan and clunk and I think it is on the way out, I was just wondering if 240 diff's can be used under a 140 and how the ratios compare between them.

If the housings are different then are some of the internals interchangeable, as 240's around here in Australia are way easier to come by .
