more drive shaft questions 200

I'm changing my center support bearing this weekend. My plan is to forego the cost of U-joints unless I notice something wrong, because I'm pretty tight right now (and besides, I'm Scottish, so I guess that means I'm always tight). Is that smart, or should I just bite the bullet and swap them out since I have it out of the car?

Also, is it going to be easy to split the two halves of the driveshaft so I can get the bearing off? Or does it need to be pressed apart somehow?

Bentley recommends a special grease "Volvo part no. 1 161 033-4 or equivalent" on the splines. Would an "equivalent" just be regular wheel bearing grease?
