900 fuel mileage and buying a 900/this time with text! 900

Looking for feedback on 900 series wagons. I'm getting ready to retire my faithful 1987 745 and like the looks and feel of the 965. I'm thinking 1995 or later, and was wondering what kind of fuel mileage owners of these are getting. I'm probably spoiled by the 745. Also, while I've read through the FAQ section on the 960, I was curious as to any other general comments owners might have about the 960 series, good or bad. Many thanks for any and all opinions/information.
