volvo roof and safety. I just have to know.

What do you think?

The 240 was a further development of the 140 body and improved on it in many ways. I can tell you for a fact, since I have cut the roof off of a 240 with a Sawzall, that there are 7 layers of metal in the roof header/ A-pillar area. It is plenty reinforced there, and wouldn't give easily. It's hard to say how the car would do in a given crash situation, but it would have to be better than that Honda. Also, remember the Volvos shape wouldn't lend itself to a truck climbing up it- more energy would likely be absorbed in crushing the front end first. Sounds like that was a key factor in this particular accident. Sadly some people don't consider the design of their cars or aren't concerned about the inherent safety features- with a Honda you're looking for something else- be it fuel efficiency, cheap transportation, sportiness? Safety in a crash won't be high on the list or you'd pick something else.
