Oil in Intercooler 700 1990

Hi Gang,

I was wondering how much oil one would expect to find in the intercooler.

While wandering around under my car, I decided to remove the drain plug and, expecting a little oil I put a cup under it and I spilled more out of the plug than ended up in the cup. My best guess is it was probably less than a teaspoon full.

As I don't know if Volvo pulls the drain plug during maintenance, I'm guessing that it's been at least 50k miles (since I bought the car)that it has been drained.

Too much...about average?

Also, I removed the hoses from the turbo to inspect them. While I was in there I tried to check end play in the turbo. I wasn't able to detect any end play or lateral movement. I did see, on the leading edges of the vanes, what appears to be a slight erosion of the metal...not much, but still visable. The car has 150k miles on it and runs like a Banshee. Very strong acceleration, smooth idle and reasnoable gas mileage. Should I be concerned about the erosion?

Thanks for your response.
