164E - intank filter? 140-160 1975

Just got a 1975 164E. Replaced fuel pump, filter and water pump and it is running halfway decent this way.
Since the fuel pump is still kind of noisy I thought about checking the intank filter. Strange thing is, there is no drain on this tank. On the 140's there is a drain and the filter sits above the drain, but not on this one.
Previous owner tells me that volvo replaced the gas tank under a recall.

Any suggestions on the noisy pump?
Is there an intank filter and how do I get to it?

thanks in advance for your help.

Robert
