Knock sensor connection 200 1986

Hello all

I noticed while locating all my sensors that about two inches from slide connector down, the wire coating is gone and the bare wire looks frayed.
I'm going to fix this weekend but was wondering what ill affects this could have on the sensor, engine performance, timing, etc.

Thanks
