Name that noise- please help!! 900

I posted earlier regarding this noise on my 1995 945T- (123k mi), thinking it might be suspension related, but now I think its related to the brakes. I'm getting a clicking noise when I apply the brakes, regardless whether I'm going straight or turning, forward or reverse. It's usually a succession of two clicks as I step on the brakes. I put it in park the other night and tried the brakes- I'm getting a distinct clicking noise just as I touch the brake pedal and the noise seems to be coming from right under the shift selector and from the front passenger side.

Could this be related to the start inhibitor switch in the shift selector assembly? ABS?

Thanks for any input.

John
