Why does tag on transmission for the 940 series indicate 71L if the 940's have the aw72L 900 1994

Hello

Are any 940's tagged on the transmission with aw72L. Yesterday went to salvage yard. Three 94's had a tag which indicated AW71L. None of these cars were Turbos. Actual tags read (03.71L-1208)

The archives and FAQ both indicate the 940's have the AW72L. Furthermore the discussion indicated that the AW72L was a beefed up unit designed to handle the B234 engine.

Is the any difference between the AW72L in a B234 versus a B230.

What differences could be readily seen by a novice when comparing the two engines B230 vs B234 while browsing at the junk yard.

If a AW72L for a non turbo 91-97 940 is pulled out of the vehicle at the salvage yard and is labeled as these 3 940's are, would it be possible to actually receive a true AW71L which is modified for turbo applications.( a completely different animal.

Thanks for the help.
