Introduction and thanks +1 question 700 1988

Hello Everyone ,
I wish to thanks this forum for the fantastic advice and information that I have data mined here. I am new to the world of Volvo cars. I have a 1988 740 GLE in realtively good shape with 212000 KM on it. Thanks to all the people I think that I have solved the engine cutting off in the middle of no where problem. I did do one error last night though. When the car stalled I bought a Jerry Can of gas and put it in the tank but I also added some engine cleaner, bad move, the car did not start till the next day. I went and bought a power stage. Was pretty certain that would solve the problems of stopping.
But now due to that engine cleaner stuff the car is all weird, it no longer has the snap it used to have and it idles horribly and does not have a crisp acceleration. My neighbor suggested that I put in some premium fuel tomorrow and try to run all this gunk out. Now it has black smoke that came out. Any way did I damage the machine or can I just drive the product out of the system.'Thanks.
