paint 200 1987

There are a few places on the roof of my 87 240 that the paint is coming off for some reason. When I first got the car about 2 years ago, it looked like someone had buffed in (in other words the clear coat is missing) in a few spots and the bigger spot has been getting worse and worse since then. It looks like the spot is possible spreading but I don't know for sure. Now in the middle of the spot you all the paint is gone and you can see the metal. Is there a remedy for this or some way I can stop this from happening.

Thanks

Mark
