Proper timing setting 700 1990

"...and I was one tooth off on the cam sprocket..."

Ah, yes. Been down that road myself, but slowly because I was off a tooth... (wife says I'm off far more than a tooth...).

I also worked on a 740 that, I later discovered, had a sheared alignment pin between the cam and sprocket. That cam was retarded (and so was I for not finding it quickly). The car was dangerously slow on up ramps but ran OK at highway speeds.

With one of my cars, I missed a tooth on installation and inadvertently advanced the cam. The car was fine at slow speeds and back roads but couldn't get to 70 and popped and farted between 45 and 65.
